There are many quirks and traditions the Rhodes Run has retained over the years. Traditions being those intangible tangibles which are the invisible character of an event, and we have many.
One of these has many a first or second-timer scratching their head, although it would usually be the supporters at the Start/Finish who are more confused. A sign to 'Keep Clear of the bridge' when there is not anything remotely looking like a bridge in the vicinity.
One needs to step back three decades to find the bridge in question.
The background to this somewhat out of place sign is always shared at the Finish during the course of race day, or to quickly quench your curiosity pop over here https://www.rhodesrun.za.net/looking-back/rhodes-traditions
