The 'Good Samaritans' who stopped to help on the Lesotho border this year did not complete their run and consequently did not receive credit for their effort.
In recognition of their generous spirit, unselfish attitude and good sportsmanship special brass clasps have been made and attached to 2009 Liberty Health Rhodes Trail Run medals. Each of the Good Samaritans will receive one of these "Special Recognition - Medevac Award" medals as a tribute and as a memento of their day in the shadow of Ben MacDhui.
The recipients of these special medals are Anton de Munnik, Ross Lesser, Lauren Lincoln, Heather Joyce and Elaine Cuffe. In addition they will each receive an invitation to the 2010 Liberty Health Rhodes Trail Run.
