Rhodes is uniquely special in that there is incredible personal achievement of a challenging run (not race) for all, superb organizing and seconding, warm farm and country hospitality, good food throughout the village and entertainment throughout the night. The feeling of being safe in a strange environment is quite unsettling at first! Ek moet eerlik erken dat op ‘n stadium teen die berg op het ek my self belowe NOOIT weer nie, maar teen die tyd dat ek klaar gestort het, het ek al begin wonder waar ek weer ‘n kaartjie sal kan kry. Ek wil graag hê dat jy ‘n word van dank sal oordra aan almal wat by die waterpunte gehelp het. Veral die waterpunt heel bo op die berg. Ek het nod nooit in my lewe so ‘n wind tee gekom nie. En om in sulke onstandigehede daar te sit en woord van aanmoediging vir almal te hê (en die lekker warm pannekoekies) is wonderlik. Ons waardeer dit werklik. Dit is ook die eerste keer vandat ek aan wedlop begin deelneem het, dat ek die tyd gevat he tom te gaan sit langs die pad en die natuurskoon te waardeer. Thank you Evie, Darrell and First Ascent for an unbelievable experience and the opportunity to run the Rhodes Trail Run this year. As I have always wanted to run this race, I thought I knew what to expect, but on the day all my years of running experience did not prepare me for the freezing cold wind at the top of Mavis Bank and the cramps experienced on the steep descent from the escapement. Waarom wil jul die roete verander. Dit was my 1ste keer gewees en ek was mal daaroor. Aan die eerste km's kan jul nie verander to bo-op Mac is nie. Dit is die pragtigste deel!! Dit is natuur wat jy op geen ander manier gaan sien as om te loop of draf daar nie. Geen fiets, motor ens sal daardie mooi vir jou kan wys nie. ~ Erina du Toit, Lichtenberg

I completed my third run this year and achieved my permanent number. I really have been privileged to do three consecutive runs. Thank you very much for another superb race.
